Ibby Dickson was crowned the new Miss University of Alabama on Saturday night, at the Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa. A senior from Sylacauga, Dickson is pursuing a double major in News Media and Political Science, with plans to attend law school in the fall. Her Social Impact Initiative is Mentoring Matters.
Dickson’s 2022 scholastic honors include The Anderson Society (an honorary recognizing the top 24 UA students), Blue Key Honor Society, Mortar Board Honor Society, Carl A. Elliott Society and Omicron Delta Key Honor Society. Ibby also currently serves as Vice President of Operations for the Capstone Men and Women and has served as Recruitment Chair for Chi Omega Sorority and on the Recruitment Team for The Blackburn Institute.
Dickson was one of eight women to be tapped into all senior honoraries on Honors Day 2022 at the University of Alabama. She was also a speaker at the Dr. Autherine Lucy Foster Memorial Service.
Dickson’s Social Impact Initiative, Mentoring Matters, advocates for youth in the state of Alabama. After realizing the impact that mentoring had on her own life, Ibby created Mentoring Matters to implement mentoring programs, fundraise for existing mentoring programs and advocate for better opportunities for Alabama’s youth.
Additionally, Ibby served as Miss Sylacauga 2020 and 2021 and was also a Top-12 Finalist for Miss Alabama 2022 in July, serving as Miss Jefferson County.
Congratulations, Ibby!
